I heard about 8-Bit Christmas on the Movie Madness podcast and after watching Tick Tick Boom, I wanted something lighter.
What I Liked:
What wasn't there to like? A movie about how a kid got his Nintendo back in the late 80s. It wasn't really about that, though. It's a sweet movie about fathers and sons and families and expectations around the holidays. It's about that one toy that you really want but your parents won't let you have. It's kind of Christmas Story but with some plot twists. Loved the kids, loved Steve Zahn and June Diane Raphael.
What I Didn't Like:
Nothing much. I know there's no way to go back and re-create late 1980s Chicago, but I was hoping for more scenes there. Wonderful film.
