It Ain't Easy- Three Dog Night

Back to 1970. My goal is five albums this week, as I'm still in March.

We begin with It Ain't Easy by Three Dog Night. I actually like the album overall. It's a little cheesy, but has a couple of solid tunes and maybe the worst or most irritating track ("Good Feeling")

Faith

How is it that the song on the radio when I started the care this morning was "Faith"?

Levi started there in August of 2020. We were fortunate that he got to go there in the midst of the pandemic, and our journey began. Over the years, we made friends and had nearly an entire T-Ball team comprised of Faith kids.  It was great to go in at drop-off or see someone at pick up and have a little conversation or wave hello.

We started on a roller coaster early this summer when they announced that their license was being revoked. They continued as long as they could, and when it looked like the state was not going to work with them, they decided to shut their doors, with the last day being tomorrow.

I'm kind of worn out by the whole thing. I have had points where I was angry, disappointed, and just depressed. Now, as sad as I am today, I'm glad Naomi has a new place to go that seems much more solid.

Thoughts Session- The Stories of My Life- France

Where to begin?

The idea of being a teaching assistant in France was introduced in Professor Kuiper's Linguistics class in December 2000.

Most study abroad options (which were a requirement for foreign language/education majors) involved paying to go abroad and were not cheap.

This option had students from UWM and other places going to help school districts in France with pronunciation and other aspects of learning English.

It was a full year commitment, with arrival in France in September of 2001 and return to the US in late April/early May 2002.

The idea was extremely intimidating to me at first. Over seven months in a foreign country living on my own? I hadn't lived on my own yet.

Preparation: getting passport and visa among other things for the application.

9/11: would I even be going to France? My flight was scheduled for 9/19.

9/11 itself and the aftermath.

Leaving job at GPL

Arrival in France- the frustrating trip to Lisieux, complicated by losing directions and trying to find them at Chatelet-Les-Halles.

First one there, so I got to pick my studio apartment.
