The '91 Angels fantasy team never had it. They had a hot streak to begin the season, and then it all unraveled. They finished 73-89, good for fifth place in the division. Juan Marichal and Satchel Paige pitched often like aces. They finished a combined 26-19. The rest of the rotation was 20-41.
Dennis Eckersley was drafted to be the closer, but more often resembled the last five letters of the word. He didn't even lead the team in saves and finished with an ERA around 5.
The offense could not get consistent all year. The #1 guy, Kevin Mitchell, wound up hitting .239. David Justice hit .235. Frank Thomas (the '50s guy, not the '90s slugger) wound up around .250. It was just not enough to make a winning team. Season is over very quickly.
Next up: The '16 Nationals.
